Brief overview

With company bike leasing, your company provides employees with a bicycle or e-bike, usually as part of a salary conversion or as an additional benefit. The bikes can be used both for commuting to work and privately. Thanks to tax incentives in accordance with Section 3 No. 37 EStG, your employees benefit from attractive conditions and you strengthen health, environmental awareness and employer attractiveness at the same time.

Legal Framework

Since 2019, company bike leasing has been tax-privileged: If the bike is provided via deferred compensation, only 0.25% of the list price is taxed each month (instead of the previous 1%). Alternatively, the bike can also be provided as tax-free remuneration in kind - provided it is a voluntary additional benefit. This is based on Section 3 No. 37 EStG in conjunction with the wage tax regulations on company car taxation.
