Fuel voucher

A popular tax-advantaged benefit in kind that provides financial relief to employees and is considered an effective tool for showing appreciation.

The fuel voucher is a classic and widely used employee benefit that is particularly appreciated in times of high mobility costs. Companies can provide their employees with regular vouchers or credit for fuel, either as a recurring benefit or on an ad hoc basis.

As a tax-privileged benefit in kind, fuel vouchers can be granted tax-free up to an amount of $50 per month, provided that the legal requirements are met and the voucher is issued for a specific purpose.

Advantages of fuel vouchers:

  • Financial relief for mobility costs
  • Tax- and social security contribution-free within the limits of the benefit in kind exemption
  • High acceptance and direct suitability for everyday use
  • Easy processing via digital voucher systems or card solutions

Not all employees can make good use of a fuel voucher, for example if they do not drive a car or work mainly from home. A flexible alternative is a smart benefit card that allows the monthly tax-free €50 to be used individually, for example for shopping, mobility, leisure, or health, depending on the different life situations within the team.
